Week 12 Art Style Guide Continued

This week me and my group started putting proxy's into an Unreal project and building our scene. I personally was in charge of a Pascal, boat, and lantern proxy models. We all worked together on the PowerPoint but the main slides I contributed to were Story/Narrative, Game Pillars, Mood, and Scope Considerations.

Week 11 Foliage Set

This week was my first ever attempt at creating foliage in 3D. I created desert grass, a palm tree, a lotus flower, and papyrus to fill out my oasis in my desert scene. I enjoyed making the palm tree and lotus the most but overall it was a great learning experience.

My critique was to make things look more in Orb style from last week.

Week 10 Rock Set & Ground Plane

This week we created our rock set and ground plane that are to be used in our scene. I created a piece of rubble, staircase, and limestone blocks to constitute my Egyptian Obelisk scene. Also, because the setting is in Egypt I sculpted my ground plane to resemble an ancient ruins set along with an Oasis. I also received these notes from the previous blocking out week that I tried following for this week.

Change the grass locations.

Size is fine but the edges are too sharp and square.

Have grass flow with stairs.

Populate stuff with material instances.

Pick a lighting scenario.

Week 09 Egyptian Obelisk Blocking

This week was the start of a multi-week project. I started creating my VR environment in Unreal 4 using Maya to create the assets. My scene revolves around a Egyptian Pillar that will light up and float once you pick up a ruby and place it into the pillar. I also created ruins around the center object with plans to sculpt on the pillar, the limestone blocks throughout the scene, and a column that has fallen in the back.

Basic Shapes Rendered in Maya

These are some rendered shots of basic polygon primitives in Maya 2022. I used Arnold to for the render and am happy with the results. I went for a reflective scene in my shots and also a contrast of my materials to explore the different possibilities of the elements in this scene.
