This week I created poses of Pascal that will be examples of what our final model and rig will show during our VR experience. I also made an animation that displays how when the player interacts with Pascal, he will jump from the dock to the side of the boat, and then land on the cushion in front of the player. Our project now has the elements of the beginning, middle, and end. The beginning is the dock area with Pascal waving, the middle is the player being instructed by Pascal to row towards the center of the lake, and the end is the player and Pascal observing the lantern festival until the scene fades to black.

Quadruped Walk Pass 03
This week I figured out a lot of the timing basics I was missing in my older iterations of my quadruped walk cycle. Next I need to work on the tail swing and giving him a more impactful fidget than just a blink.

Team Tangled VR Experience Animation Prototyping
This week the animators on the team got together and made a list of animations that we plan will be in our final VR experience. We currently have 36 animations planned and are working with the tech artists on the team to see what more might be possible. We also started using a practice model and rig until our final Pascal model is ready to animate. I did a animation that will be referenced for when Pascal changes color.

Quadruped Walk Cycle Pass 01
This week I completed my first ever walk and run cycle for a quadruped. I chose to use a Balto rig because I love the character so hopefully as I learn how to make the animation better I can give him some justice.

Industry Review Presentation
This is my presentation I created in Adobe After Effects to show off my two best animations in the fall semester at FIEA. Included are my jump and lift animations.
Lift Animation
This is a quick video where I experimented with a lot of new techniques and animation tools. I got to animate facial controls which allowed me to give true character to my actor. I also got to learn about constraints in Maya and how they can help lock FK rigs in place for translation.
I had a blast making this animation and love how it came out. I got to emphasize the wright transfer of the crate and also add a stylized accent to the end of the animation.Jump Animation
This is a Jump animation that allowed me to focus on the core mechanics of a humanoid jumping. I decided to have fun with it and have two basketball players jump, however one gets to dunk over the other.
I learned a lot through this process and enjoyed my time creating this piece.Thursday, December 2, 2021
VR Project Final Proxy Stage
This was our last week to set up our proxies for our VR project in Unreal. I helped figure out the spline for the path of our boat that we want the player to follow and animation proxies using a rig my teammate created.

Week 13 VR Project Update
This week me and my team continued production on our VR project. I personally continued making proxies and fully implemented an oar model that was taken through the art pipeline into the Unreal environment.

Week 12 Art Style Guide Continued
This week me and my group started putting proxy's into an Unreal project and building our scene. I personally was in charge of a Pascal, boat, and lantern proxy models. We all worked together on the PowerPoint but the main slides I contributed to were Story/Narrative, Game Pillars, Mood, and Scope Considerations.

Week 11 Foliage Set
This week was my first ever attempt at creating foliage in 3D. I created desert grass, a palm tree, a lotus flower, and papyrus to fill out my oasis in my desert scene. I enjoyed making the palm tree and lotus the most but overall it was a great learning experience.
My critique was to make things look more in Orb style from last week.

Week 11 VR Experience Art Style Guide
This week me and my group developed our Art Style Guide for our VR experience. We are basing our VR experience on the lantern scene from the Disney movie Tangled. We learned about the scope of our project and the roles that each of us will play in the creation of the experience.

Week 10 Rock Set & Ground Plane
This week we created our rock set and ground plane that are to be used in our scene. I created a piece of rubble, staircase, and limestone blocks to constitute my Egyptian Obelisk scene. Also, because the setting is in Egypt I sculpted my ground plane to resemble an ancient ruins set along with an Oasis. I also received these notes from the previous blocking out week that I tried following for this week.
Change the grass locations.
Size is fine but the edges are too sharp and square.
Have grass flow with stairs.
Populate stuff with material instances.
Pick a lighting scenario.
